nobody loves me...everbody hates me,,,
Seen that kid who wears glasses , and is typecast a nerd, teased by everyone around? The fat kid in the corner who wants to play but is not allowed to by the others?The girl who does not wear hep clothes and is the butt of jokes...i think think of many more in this list..its sad tht people who are not "in" the crowd are made fun off...luckily, even though i was wuite nerdy and i did wear glasses, i wasnt set aside at school..whtdyou say abt a person who is sooooo stupid,who says the most foolish things at the most inappropriate times, who everyone from age 2 to age 202 wud consider dumb...is it wrong when u make fun of such a person? some times i do feel sorry for X...and everytime i feel sorry...i really feel sorry for feeling sorry!

confusedaa?
one advice... no daroo for sad or sorry times... makes feel like devdas... keep daroo only for good times (kingfisher ka punchline)...
jaane de... thodi hawaa aane de... baaki sab ekdum FIT...
I wore glasses, didnt go pubbing..and inmany cases didnt do things tht the average hep crowd does but my image was totally different n I guess ppl liked me for my decision not be one among them n have my own attitude! :) :)
i was probably the biggest nerdy looking kid in school and probably a bit thro college too..actually i probably fit that bill..so i knwo what that means..but well i guess i proved ppl otherwise too..i dont feel sorry for the ones cast aside, i just think they cast themselves aside thinking they wont fit in. but yea sometimes it goes beyond just trying to fit in!
@iyer - as usual..advice taken da:)
i can relate to every word you said.
till i was in class 9 i used to stammer so much that i couldnt utter a word. needless to say public made full use of getting entertained on my 'brake horse power' speech, but there were other side effects too.
- you know the answer to what the teacher asked but never raise your hand.
- you are not allowed to answer phone calls at home.
- you have an opinion on things being discussed on the dinner table but you keep shut because no one has the patience to wait for you to finish what you might have to say. might be breakfast time already.
- it is assumed in school that because you stammer you can be bullied around (atleast this one i won. i thrashed anyone who tried pushing me around. couldnt do anything about the sniggers)
but then one day i discovered the stage. and things started getting better.
i still jerk in an occasional speed breaker in my speech but all in all it is good.
what i mean to say here with this verbose deluge is that kids who are made fun of, or victimised, or any such... should not be helped. or felt sorry for.
because 15 years of sympathy did nothing for me but made me feel weaker.
the gratification is when you manage to snap back on your own.
and that happens when someone walks up to them and tells them, that it is ok to fight back.
sorry for taking up so much space here... your post touched a chord everywhere and a tear somewhere...
cheers
@scribs - yea babe..thts the whole point!..be urself...but like i said..some ppl behave real stupid and ask dumb questions..tht really pissess me off!
@yogi - i knew u had to be a bit like me considering u seem to be a bit intelligent:P...hehe...agree with u on the fact tht sometimes people decide to set themselves aside..
I have pity on the people who judge others by looks, so-called modernity, command over english, and the many other things that do not say a thing abt what a person truly is..
Its outright absurd..
:)
..Me
ah.. hmm.., me off.. too many nerds around.. :P
i always was the average kid ... school n college ... was never with the 'in' crowd ... and never was a 'nerd' ... i did my own thing
... if someone bothered me, my nasty sarcastic side wld bring all their weaknesses to the forefront ... and as the 'in' crowd fear public humiliation as much as the regular joe, after a while no one bothered me at all :)
there will always be nasty people around ... but with time, one must try and learn to handle them ... its all part of the game, i guess
Really everbody? You include all 6 billion people in the world right? Just don't include me.
i take comfort in being alone but not lonely. it stops me feelin the need to hang out with people to feel popular.
@rose - welcome "me"!..yup it is absurd..ou dont wanna talk to such a person..dont...just dont fun of em!
@ da rodent - shudnt it be..."we r intellectual nerds here...wat r u doing"...:P..kidding
@anup - bingo...who cares which segment of the crowd u belong to..variety is the spice of life!
@ sj - aww we wudnt include u!!..ur too sweet to even hurt a fly rt!!
@ fatty - well u do need to be alone at times..i guess its just the need to be with ppl tht triggers this whole thing
Was one those kids at school too. The kind whom other kids come to when they need help with their projects but never approached when it comes to things like picking partners for gym (we called it PE - 'physical education' here). But I now realise that being in these situations when I was growing up has made me a more focused, compassionate and determined person.
@fresh ink - its nice to know tht all of us have , at some point of time, been in that situation!..obv, i guess, everyone is an outsider in some particular kinda group
awww!
Thats sad...i remember in school too thee so called "nerdy types" used to be kept away and were never a part of the "in group"!
Guess as kids we'er too immature to realise the good and bad of these things and also the impact this has on an individual!
@ekta - helloa ekta:)...yup but tis sad when this happens when we r older no?
hey,
I soo relate to it...coz I was also the one with specs...though I was never referred to as the "nerd" but I did see this happening to other kids and the sad part is such kids always felt like the outcast!
Hey i totaly understand wat u mean.I have never made fun of nerds/ppl who specs/fat ppl etc.. Its stupid to hurt ppl like that and shows ur sick sense of humour.
And if X is downright dumb and increasingly irritating- the worst i'l do is totally ignore him.
@whyami: grrrrrrr...........................
Thank you for stopping by my blog and do come again. You have a nice blog here.I think children can be very cruel.I think I was teased a lot when I was young even though I was not fat or wore glasses, sometimes there is always one bully around who makes life unbearable for the other kids.
@anand - think its time the people with specs form a gand and make fun of the others:P
@arpita - wht dyou do when X thursts himself/herself upon u making it hard to ignore?!
@da rodent - *running away to find a safe place*
@starry nights - thank u:)and *hug*...ur part of the in crowd now!:P
to feel pity for another person is a very insulting thing ... can you ever take the fact that someone pities u?
I'v met such ppl ... they care the least for what others have to say
to make serious mockery of someone for their vices is a sign of uncouthness n ill maturity ... u can pity those who do such :)
Shd try to avoid being judgemental. But kids being kids cant avoid the same & I think @ times kids can be the meanest esp to their peers. I feel sorry fr that kid too!
@whyami: wow.. did not know it is that easy to scare you :P
@samy-true i get irritated if someone pities me!...pbbly they shud get a life!
@hastobeme - yup sometimes kids can be worse than grown ups..
@da rodent - no no no...it is just a case of "it takes two hands to clap":P
he he.. sorry - u said "thrust";) seri seri i'l quit
lol., thrust.. :P
@arpita and da rodent - ok prverts:P
i wear glasses sometimes, and i make myself the joke.
but its not what you are, its what you seem. no one cares about facts, just rumours.
@whyami:.. uh-oh.. look who is talking.. duh!
first time in here n love the way your mind writes :)
I can understand what you are saying. I spent a year in England and somehow the kids in class just didn't like me. They bullied me, made fun of me....and the worst part was that it was the indian kids who bothered me the most. I threw so many tantrums and refused to go to school but of course my parents made sure I did! Its been almost 20 years since this happened but sometimes I still dream of taking revenge :)
According to my dad it was all a character-building exercise and i guess that's true. I am normal well adjusted adult ( I think :)!)so I suppose they didn't do too much harm!
I like your blog!
@maya cassis - thanks maya!keep coming!
@the inquisitive akka - love ur name:)haha..and thanks..sure we'll find out more abt the "well adjusted adult bit:P"..hehe ..ok i am not trying to bully u dont worry...
Well., our government acted like a 5 year old kid and blocked blogspot. So., till that thing gets resolved., you can access your blogspot blogs using http://pkblogs.com/

@harjee - i am so sorry for replying sdo late but etime i tried to the blog wudnt lemme post!...finally here i am...glad tht wat i thot was a silly post touvhed u somewhere:)..
hey I guess iam lil dumb too.
Iam nerdy too , in one test i got 95% score,if that could well be taken as nerdiness index
I used to wear glasses but i broke them innumerable times and i left wearing them .
I may not be red hot but i don't consider myself dump either
and everybody has some talent , you sure have,You won a fan ..
cheers
VJ
@vj - thanx for the good words man...and am glad someone else had broken their glasses as well:)
Part of social psychology rests on defining your group as in, and all outsiders as less than you. That goes for adults. But it works pretty much the same way with children. Children and teens simply aren't sophisticated enough to make the shunning seem less obvious.
Part of what is going on is that if you define "those people" as bad, then by default you reason "we must be good." Such an attitude might attribute nerdiness and overweight as being non-athletic, stupid or so engrossed in books or eating to be sensitive about anything. Obviously this isn't true. Nevertheless, that's how people do things.
@xdell - true that social psychology defines wht is good and what is bad so to speak..and obv we dont live in a world where being a nerd is "in". Since when did being intelligent got equated with being fat/wearing glasses etc? I guess its a question of majority vs minority.
